Another Fork in the Road: A Finer Diner I could have placed this in the category of sustainable agriculture because this restaurant serves local farm grown and raised food. But the truth is, it's really good food in a friendly atmosphere no matter where it comes from. Check the website for their hours.

Schapira's Coffee and Tea Company On some days a strong aroma of roasting coffee wafts over Pine Plains. It comes from a small building across from the elementary school and next to my auto mechanic's. "Schapira’s Coffee and Tea Company has one goal: to produce the Best Coffee in the World. Now that’s a subjective matter, we know, but we think we are close. Fine, excellent, superb coffees." And from right in the middle of Pine Plains!

Winchell Mountain Coffee No, we don't have two competing coffee companies in Pine Plains. Winchell Mountain is an off-shoot of Schapira's that merits its own link because its website is so distinctive. Besides, I advocate Fair Trade coffee which is available through this website (although I have not tried it myself).

Wiltsie Bridge Country Store Just out of Pine Plains, at the fork that leads either to Rhinebeck or Red Hook, this country store offers a mix that has to be visited to be believed! They also encourage and promote country life activities... for example rug-hookers meet there regularly.
