1   Link   Ronnybrook Farm Dairy
"The Ronnybrook Farm Dairy has its own herd and is also supplied by one local family farm. We are a dairy company that runs both a dairy farm and a creamery. Our cows are fed natural grass in summer and corn and hay silage in winter. We add nothing to our milk-- no hormones no antibiotics no additives of any kind. Nor do we take any thing away. All we do is pasteurizes it and bottle it, then truck it directly from our farm to you."
2   Link   Thompson-Finch Farm
"We, Don and Marnie, have been working this land for 26 years (since 1982). We started out by growing a wide variety of vegetables and selling to local restaraunts and stores. With our first small field of strawberries, we saw that people yearned to pick their own food and to be connected to the earth and what they eat. As the years passed, our strawberry fields grew to 4.5 acres and our orchard to 1.5 acre; we also added one-half acre of blueberries and one-quarter acre of raspberries. Our dedicated customers now come from the greater New England region. We are proud of our clean fields and orchards and most importantly you, our most valued and honored customers. You are what keeps us going and striving every year to make your visit to our farm a happy and memorable family outing."

Why

I came to Pine Plains a few years ago by choice, not by chance of birth. But the small-town rural community I chose is changing. The farmers have, for the most part, sold to people from the city and fields are becoming lawns.

I am making this journal to preserve what I can of a changing way of life and to share it with the community. On a more personal level, I am making this as a way of holding on to the reasons why I came here.
